NOTE:COLOR CHANGING

Before changing the color of yarn from color A to color B,
make the last single crochet with color A but finish the stitch with color B. Then
continue with color B.

NOTE 2

POPCORN STITCH: In the pattern I made the popcorn stitch in two stitches
together. For this, follow the instructions given below:
STEP 1: ch 3 (this does not act as a stitch), 3dc in the same stitch [Pic 1 and 2]
STEP 2: 3dc in next stitch (Pic 3)
STEP 3: Remove hook from the loop you are working on and insert hook on the top
of the first dc we had made in the previous stitch (Pic 4)
STEP 4: Pull the loop through this stitch and ch1 to close (Pic 5 and 6)
STEP 5: Make 3dc in next stitch and continue from step 2 (Pic 7)

ttach dark pink yarn to the front loop
of any stitch on Rnd 18 of the body
where we had made the b.l.o. and ch3
(this does not count as a stitch). Then
make 3dc on each of the 42 stitches
around. sl st at the end of the round to
join.
f.o. and hide the yarn tail.

EYES

[MAKE 4- 2 EACH FOR JOEL AND JULIA]
Start using White Yarn
Rnd 1: MR, 6sc into MR =6st
Rnd 2: incx6 =12st
Rnd 3: (1sc, inc)x6 =18st
Rnd (4-7): 18sc for 4 rounds =18st
Change to Light Yellow Yarn
Rnd 8: f.l.o. 18sc =18st
Rnd (9-10): 18sc for 2 rounds =18st
Rnd 11: (1sc, dec)x6 =12st
Stuff the eye with polyfill till this round. Leave the stem of the
eyes unstuffed. Insert a 2.5 inches long chenille wire inside the
eye and continue crocheting around it.

Rnd (13-17): 8sc for 5 rounds =8st
Note: One ofthe stem of Joel’s eye is slightly longer than the other. So
for that, we continue 8sc till Rnd 20.

SHELLS:

The shell is divided into two sections- The Shell Lid and the Shell Body.
Shell Lid: [Make 2 each for Julia and Joel]
FOR JOEL: Black= Brown Yarn; Red= White Yarn
FOR JULIA: Black= Light Pink Yarn. Red= Dark Pink Yarn
Rnd 1: MR, 6sc into MR= 6st
Rnd 2: incx6 =12st
Rnd 3: (1sc, inc)x5, 1sc, inc =18st
Rnd 4: (2sc, inc)x5, 2sc, inc =24st
Rnd 5: (1sc, inc,2sc)x5, 1sc,(1sc, 1sc) in the same stitch, 1sc, 1sc =30st
Rnd 6: (4sc, inc)x5, 4sc, inc =36st
Rnd 7: (1sc,inc,4sc)x5, 1sc, inc, 2sc, 2sc =42st
Rnd 8: (4sc, inc,2sc)x6 =48st
Rnd 9: (inc, 7sc)x6 =54st
Rnd 10: (4sc, inc, 4sc)x6 =60st
f.o. and weave in the yarn tail.
In the second shell lid, do not finish off, but continue with shell body

SHELL BODY:

Stuff the shell body will polyfill.

CLOSING THE SHELL BODY:

Now, place the second shell lid on the open side of the shell body (the
right side facing outward). Insert your hook into the front loops of the
shell body and the shell lid and make 60sc around =60st.
f.o. and leave a long yarn tail for sewing.

ICING: [USE WHITE YARN]

I used 2.00 mm hook for this
ch 14 (foundation chain)
Rnd 1: Starting from the second chain from the hook, inc, 11 sc, 3sc in the
same stitch,
Now crochet on the other side of the foundation chain and make 12sc.
=28st
Rnd 2: 3sc in the same stitch, 13sc, 3sc in the same stitch, 13sc =32st
Rnd 3: pc in two stitches together [Refer to notes on Page 5] and continue
till the end of the round.
slst in next stitch at the end of the round.
f.o. and leave a long yarn tail for sewing

RASPBERRY:

[MAKE 2 USING FUCHSIA YARN- 1 EACH FOR JULIA AND JOEL]
I used 2.00 mm hook for this
Leave a long starting yarn tail.
Rnd 1: MR, 6sc into MR =6st
Rnd 2: incx6 =12st
Rnd (3-5): 12sc for 3 rounds =12st
Do not flip over to the right side and do not stuff.
f.o. and weave in the yarn tail.
Use the starting yarn to sew the raspberry on the centre of the icing.

BLUEBERRY:

[MAKE 4 USING NAVY BLUE YARN- 2 EACH FOR JULIA AND JOEL]
I used 2.00 mm hook for this
Rnd 1: MR, 5sc into MR =5st
Rnd 2: incx5 =10st
Rnd 3: 10st
Stuff a little with polyfill.
Rnd 4: decx5 =5st
f.o. and leave a yarn tail for sewing.
Sew one blueberries on the icing (one on each side of the raspberry).

JOEL’S MOUSTACHE:

[USE BLACK YARN]
I used 2.00 mm hook for this
ch 24
From the third chain from the hook:
1sc, dec, hdc dec, dc, dc inc, dc, hdc, slst, hdc,dc, dc inc, dc, hdc dec, dec, 1sc,
skip 2 ch and slst.
f.o. and leave a tail for sewing

ASSEMBLY:

1.Sew the stem of the eyes on Rnd 3-4 of head around 4 stitches

apart.

2. Using black embroidery thread, embroider a black line 2 stitches

downward at Rnd 5-6 of each eye. I did this 3 times to make the

eyes more prominent.

3.Using white embroidery thread, embroider a white line 1 stitch

downward on top of the black portion of the eye at Rnd 5 of

each eye.

4.Using a tapestry needle insert the yarn tail into the side of shell

body and out through the middle of the shell body Use this yarn

tail to sew the shell on the body of the snail between Rnd 20-

Rnd 48 of the snail body.

5.Sew the moustache at Rnd 6-Rnd 8 on the front of Joel’s head.

6.Sew the icing on the top of the Shell body.

7.Using a tapestry needle, insert a black embroidery yarn through

the side of Julia’s eyes at Rnd 7-8. Tie the ends of the thread and

trim the ends to make eyelashes.

8.Using Fuchsia yarn, embroider a V-shaped mouth for Julia at Rnd

7 of head.
