Arms (make 2):
Crochet one arm with red and white stripes and another – with
green and white stripes.
Start to crochet in beige color.
1 round – 6 sc in MR
2 round – increases6 (12) 3-10 rounds (8 rounds) – 12 sc The beige thread can be fastened off. Then crochet the arms changing the yarn color every two rounds: 11 round BLO – (3 sc, inc)3 (15) (green/red)
12 round – 15 sc (green/red)
13-14 rounds – 15 sc (white)
15-16 rounds – 15 sc (green/red)
17-18 rounds – 15 sc (white)
19-20 rounds – 15 sc (green/red)
21-22 rounds – 15 sc (white)
23-24 rounds – 15 sc (green/red)
25-26 rounds – 15 sc (white)
27-28 rounds – 15 sc (green/red)
29-30 rounds – 15 sc (white)
31-32 rounds – 15 sc (green/red)
Change the yarn color to light grey.
33-35 rounds (3 rounds) – 15 sc. Make + 1 sl st at the end of
the round 35.
Fasten off the thread and secure.
Attach the thread to the front loop of the round 10 and crochet
cuffs. Make 1 turning ch and work 12 dc across the round.
If you are going to use a wireframe, then don’t stuff the arms. If
not, then add some stuffing material

Feet and legs (make 2):
One stocking is crocheted in red and white colors and
another stocking is made in green and white. Start
crocheting with the stocking in red and white colors, because
we will fasten off the thread after finishing this leg.
Start crocheting with the yarn of green/red color:
1 round – 6 sc in MR (green/red)
2 round – increases6 (12) (green/red) 3 round – 12 sc (green/red) 4 round – (5 sc, inc)2 (14) (white)
5 round – 14 sc (white)
6-7 rounds – 14 sc (green/red)
8-9 rounds – 14 sc (white)
10-11 rounds – 14 sc (green/red)
In the round 12 increases are made with the stitches
indicated in brackets:
12 round – inc (hdc), inc2 (dc), inc (hdc), dec, 1 sc, 4 sl st, 1 sc, dec (16) (white) 13 round – dec, 4 sc, dec, 2 sc, 4 sl st, 2 sc (14) (white) 14-15 rounds – 14 sc (green/red) Work 4 shift stitches at the end of the round 15. 16-17 rounds – 14 sc (white) Change the color to dark grey. Fasten off the white and green/red threads. Stuff the feet firmly, if you DON’T use a wireframe. 18 round BLO – inc, 2 sc, (inc, 3 sc)2, inc, 2 sc (18)
19 round – 18 sc
20 round – (5 sc, inc)3 (21) 21-23 rounds (3 rounds) – 21 sc 24 round – (6 sc, inc)3 (24)
25-27 rounds (3 rounds) – 24 sc

28 round – (7 sc, inc)3 (27) 29-35 rounds (7 rounds) – 27 sc Work 10 additional stitches across the leg with the red stocking, fasten off the thread and secure it. Work 19 additional stitches across the leg with the green stocking and make ch3. You may have the number of additional stitches other than mine, because of the difference in our crochet density. Join the legs: Join the chain with the right leg with the red stocking. Start crocheting from the stitch, which follows the last stitch. The joining point is the beginning of a new round. The stitch, which joins the leg with the chain is the first stitch in a new round. 36 round – 27 sc across the leg with the stocking with red stripes, 3 sc along the chain, 27 sc along the stocking with the green stripes, 3 sc along the chain (60) 37 round – 4 sc, (5 sc, inc)3, 5 sc, inc3, 5 sc, (5 sc, inc)3, 4 sc, inc3 (72) 38 round – 30 sc, (1 sc, inc)3, 30 sc, (1 sc, inc)*3
(78)
39-46 rounds (8 rounds) – 78 s

Prepare the wire.
My Santa’s legs have 9.5 cm (3.5”) length. I cut the piece of
wire with the length of 25 cm (9.8”). This piece will be
enough for whole the body. We will cut the extra length then.
Wrap the wire ends with a duct tape or an adhesive tape.
Twist the top part of wire, leaving the wire ends for the legs
with the length of 9.5 cm (to fit the legs length). Insert the wire
into the legs and stuff them firmly.
47 round – (11 sc, dec)6 (72) 48-49 rounds – 72 sc 50 round – (10 sc, dec)6 (66)
51-53 rounds (3 rounds) – 66 sc
Shift the marker to the back side, working 30 additional
stitches in the round 53. The beginning of rounds will be
here.
You may have the number of additional stitches other than mine,
because of the difference in our crochet density. Be oriented to
the back center.
Change the yarn to light grey color. The dark grey color can
be fastened off.
54 round BLO – 66 sc
55-60 rounds (6 rounds) – 66 sc
61 round – (9 sc, dec)6 (60) 62 round – 18 sc, (3 sc, dec)2, (2 sc, dec)2, 2 sc, (dec, 3 sc)2, 12 sc (54)
63-65 rounds (3 rounds) – 54 sc
66 round – (7 sc, dec)6 (48) 67-69 rounds (3 rounds) – 48 sc Stuff firmly. 70 round – (6 sc, dec)6 (42)
71-73 rounds (3 rounds) – 42 sc
74 round – (5 sc, dec)*6 (36)

In the next round we will attach the arms. The arms are
joined in two steps in two rounds. At first we will join 7
stitches of each arm when crocheting the first round, and
then we will join remaining 8 stitches of each arm in the
next round.
At first find the location points for the arms. Place marker
to indicate 7 stitches on both sides of the body.
You can follow my instructions for these rounds, but my
calculations may not work for you because of different
crochet density or if you have chosen different yarn. And
the arms could be joined non-symmetrically.
75 round – 8 sc, 7 sc together with one side of the arm,
11 sc, 7 sc together with one side of another arm, 3 sc
(36)
76 round – crochet across the larger circle, don’t work
into the stitches where the arms are joined in the round
75: 8 sc, 8 sc across the outer side of the first arm, 11
sc, 8 sc across the outer side of the second arm, 3 sc
(38)

Stuff firmly.

Prepare the wire for the arms. Cut a piece of wire with the
length of 32 cm (2.5”) (2 pc). Fold it in half and twist it.
Insert the wire into the arms so it’s blunt ends were inside
of the hands, twist the ends around the main wire.
77 round – 38 sc
78 round – 38 sc + 3 shift stitches
79 round – 2 sc, dec, (3 sc, dec)6, 2 sc, dec (30) Add stuffing. Change the color to beige. Fasten off the thread of light grey color. 80 round – (3 sc, dec)6 (24)
81 round – 24 sc
Leave a long thread for sewing the head.
Add stuffing.
Attach the thread of white color to the front loop of the
round 17 and work 14 inc.
Then attach the dark grey thread to the front loop of the
round 53 and work 66 sc.

Making the suspenders:
Attach the thread to the front side where we crocheted sc
across the color changing line. Make a chain with the
length enough to join it with the back side. I have made
chain 57. Secure the chain at the back side joining it with
sl st.
Make the second suspender in the same way.
Weave in thread ends.
The suspenders are finished.
P.s. The suspenders idea came to me when the head was
already sewn to the head and the beard was already
attached. But in my case the suspenders making was not
convenient for me. Therefore I recommend you to make
them at this stage before sewing the head.

Head:
1 round – 8 sc in MR
2 round – increases8 (16) 3 round – (1 sc, inc)8 (24)
4 round – (3 sc, inc)6 (30) 5 round – 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc)5, 2 sc (36)
6 round – (5 sc, inc)6 (42) 7 round – 3 sc, inc, (6 sc, inc)5, 3 sc (48)
8 round – (7 sc, inc)6 (54) 9 round – 4 sc, inc, (8 sc, inc)5, 4 sc (60)
10 round – (9 sc, inc)6 (66) 11-19 rounds (9 rounds) – 66 sc 20 round – (10 sc, inc)6 (72)
21-22 rounds – 72 sc
23 round – (10 sc, dec)6 (66) 24 round – (9 sc, dec)6 (60)
25 round – (4 sc, dec)10 (50) 26 round – (3 sc, dec)10 (40)
Stuff the head and find the points for the eyes. The eyes
are inserted between the rounds 15 and 16. There are 10
stitches between them. Pull the stuffing out, insert the
eyes and stuff the head again.
Continue crocheting:
27 round – (2 sc, dec)10 (30) 28 round – (3 sc, dec)6 (24)
Add stuffing.

Cut the wire ends, leaving 2 cm for the neck.
Sew the head with “stitch-to-stitch” seam. Put
the head on the neck and fix it with pins. Sew
the head, inserting the needle into one lower
stitch and into the stitch, which is located
exactly above the lower stitch.
Find the point for nose embroidery. Embroider
the nose in the round 16. Make stitches with
the wide of 3 sts.

For the beard attaching you will need a needle
and a strong thread. Cut the yarn Alize Softi to
the pieces with the length of 20 cm (7.8”).
Find the rounds where the beard will start.
The first row of the beard is located between the
rounds 17 and 18, the width is 7 stitches. The
markers should be located evenly and
symmetrically to the eyes.
The second row of the beard is located between
the rounds 18 and 19, the width is 9 stitches.
The third row is located between the rounds 19
and 20, the width is 13 stitches.
Then repeat the third row from the round 20 till the
round 23.

Find the points where the eyebrows will be embroidered.
The lower point of the eyebrow is between the rounds
12 and 13, the upper point is between the rounds 11
and 12. The eyebrow width is 3 stitches.
Make a needle sculpting.

Now we can start working with the beard. I trimmed it
just a little, because it seemed to me to be too long.
You will need scissors and a comb with rare teeth.
Comb the beard, cut carefully about two cm, making a
rounded shape and cutting a little more at the beard
sides. Comb the beard again and trim the thread ends
which could appear to be longer. Repeat several times,
combing and trimming the beard.

Ears (make 2):
1 round – 6 sc in MR + ch1
2 round – turn and crochet (1 sc, inc)*3
(9)
Leave a long thread tails for sewing.
The top point of the ears is located a little
lower then the eyes at the round 16.
Step 9 stitches fron the eyes to both sides
across the round 16.
Sew the ears.
