Using Rainbow Bamboo by Hobbii and a 2.5 mm hook
your little sheep will be approx. 18 cm/ 7 inches in size.
Of course, you can use whichever yarn you wish to use.
The size will depend on how tight or loosely you crochet.
Please find below the yarn and yarn colors I used crocheting the sheep and my
consumption of yarn:

Pair of safety eyes (diameter: 6 mm, black)
Darning needle (blunt tip)
Sewing or embroidery needle (pointed)
Stitch marker
Fiberfill
Scissors
Pins to attach, secure and check if everything is placed well
The following basic knowledge is required:
- Magic Ring
- Single crochet
- Slip stitch (mostly used when finishing off a crochet detail)
- Half double crochet and double crochet
- Chains and double chains
- Increase and decrease (of stitches)
- I recommend the invisible decrease because by using it you will get a smoother result.
- (You can find a lot of great clips online which explain the invisible decrease in detail.)
- embroidery
- Sewing (fasten)
Abbreviations
MR = Magic Ring
st = stitch(es)
sc = single crochet
inc = increase
dec = decrease
blo = back loop only
flo = front loop only
hdc = half double crochet

Head (Light Gray):
1. MR 8 sc = 8 st
2. inc x 8 = 16 st
3. 4 sc, inc x 4, 4 sc, inc x 4 = 24 st
4. 6 sc, (inc, 1 sc) x 3, 6 sc, (inc, 1 sc) x 3 = 30 st

6. 6 sc, (inc, 2 sc) x 3, 6 sc (inc, 2 sc) x 3 = 36 st
7. 6 sc, (inc, 3 sc) x 3, 6 sc (inc, 3 sc) x 3 = 42 st
8. 6 sc, (inc, 4 sc) x 3, 6 sc (inc, 4 sc) x 3 = 48 st
9. – 15. 48 sc = 48 st (7 rounds)
Mark the positions of the security eyes with two
remnants of yarn in round 16.
16. 20 sc, place marker, 13 sc, place marker, 15 sc = 48 st
17. – 19. 48 sc = 48 st (3 rounds)
Crochet 4 sc more, so that the color change
is centered at the back of the head.
Color change from light gray to almond or white.
Please note: From here work in blo!
20. – 21. 48 sc = 48 st (2 rounds)
Now insert the safety eyes
(diameter: 6 mm) at the marked positions.

From here we start decreasing stitches.
The decreases are worked in flo.
Single crochets are worked in blo.
22. (6 sc, dec) x 6 = 42 st
23. 42 sc = 42 st (1 round)
24. 5 sc, dec) x 6 = 36 st
25. 36 sc = 36 st (1 round)
26. (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30 st
27. (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 st
Stuff with fiberfill.
28. (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18 st
29. (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 st

Sheep`s wool – head (Almond or White):
Thread in a yarn tail at the first flo and crochet 5 ch and then a slst in the next flo.
Again work 5 ch and a slst in the next st. Then repeat these steps until you crocheted
5c ch in each st – until round 20.
The more stitches are worked the fluffier the sheep’s wool will be.
Cut the yarn off and weave in the tail nicely.

Ears 2x (Light Gray):
- MR 6 sc = 6 st
- inc x 6 = 12 st
- 1 ch, 5 hdc, (2 dc in 1 sc) x 2, 5 hdc = 14 st
Fasten off with a slst in the next st. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave
in the beginning tail nicely and cut it. Fold the ear and sew the two stitches at the
bottom together. Then insert the needle from above and come out with it at the
bottom.

Facial details

Arms (Light Gray, Hydrangea or Curry):
Start with Light Gray:
1. MR 6 sc = 6 st
2. (1 sc, inc) x 3 = 9 st
3. – 5. 9 sc = 9 st (3 rounds)
Stuff hand with fiberfill.
Color change from Light Gray to Hydrangea or Curry.
6. inc x 9 flo = 18 st
7. – 13. 18 sc = 18 st (7 rounds)
14. (4 sc, dec) x 3 = 15 st
15. – 16. 15 sc = 15 st (2 rounds)
17. (3 sc, dec) x 3 = 12 st
18. – 20. 12 sc = 12 st (3 rounds)
21. (2 sc, dec) x 3 = 9 st
22. – 23. 9 sc = 9 st (2 rounds)
24. 2 sc, the round is not worked till the end.
Only the hand is stuffed. Do NOT stuff the arm with fiberfill. Fold the two sides of the
arm together and crochet 4 sc across. Make sure that the color change is centered
above the hand. Cut the yarn and weave in the yarn tail nicely.

Legs (Light Gray, Almond or White):
Leg 1, start with Light Gray:
1. MR 6 sc = 6 st
2. inc x 6 = 12 st
3. – 7. 12 sc = 12 st (5 rounds)
Color change from Light Gray to
Almond or White.
Please note:
From round 8 work blo.
8. – 13. 12 sc blo = 12 st (6 rounds)
14. 3 sc, the round is not worked till the end.
Cut the yarn leaving a long yarn tail. With this yarn tail you can close little gaps that
may result when connecting the legs.

Leg 2, start with Light Gray:
1. MR 6 sc = 6 st
2. inc x 6 = 12 st
3. – 7. 12 sc = 12 st (5 rounds)
Color change from Light Gray to
Almond or White.
Please note:
From round 8 work blo.
8. – 13. 12 sc = 12 st (6 rounds)
14. 9 sc, the round is not worked till the end.
Do not cut the yarn.
Continue crocheting the body:
Connect the legs with 8 ch.
The first sc is the new
beginning of the rounds. Place
a stitch marker. Thus, now is
the front of the body.
Please note:
Continue working blo while crocheting
the body.
15. 40 sc = 40 st (1 round)
16. 2 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 6 sc, inc, 6 sc, inc,
5 sc inc, 6 sc, inc, 4 sc = 46 st
17. 1 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 7 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc,
7 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc = 54 st
18. 54 sc = 54 st (1 round)
19. 2 sc, inc, 8 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc,
9 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc, 9 sc, inc, 14 sc = 60 st
20. – 22. 60 sc = 60 st (3 rounds)
23. 23 sc, the round is not worked till the end.
The last st is the new beginning of the rounds. Place a stitch marker
here. The new beginning of the rounds is now centered at the back ofthe body.
Stuff legs with fiberfill.

Color change from Almond or White to
Hydrangea or Curry. Now start crocheting
the jumper:
23. 60 sc blo = 60 st
24. 60 sc blo = 60 st
25. 60 sc blo of round 24 = 60 st
This way a pullover ribbing is created.
Please note:
From here you work in both loops.
27. – 31. 60 sc = 60 st (5 rounds)

Now you make a stop in working on the jumper.
Start crocheting a chain at the legs. Do NOT cut the yarn at the jumper. It is
requested to work the chain first because this part will widen due to the technique
that is applied and therefore more fiberfill needs to be stuffed.
Thread in a yarn tail at the first flo (at the back of the body) and crochet 5 ch and
then a slst in the next flo. Again work 5 ch and a slst in the next st. Then repeat these
steps until you crocheted 5c ch in each st – all the way down of the right leg. Now
thread in a yarn tail at the left leg.
And repeat all steps until you reach the last flo of the left leg.
And here too, the more stitches are worked the fluffier the sheep’s wool will be.
Cut all yarn tails and weave them in nicely.

Now continue crocheting the jumper:
32. (8 sc, dec) x 6 = 54 st
33. 54 sc = 54 st (1 round)
34. 3 sc, dec, (7 sc, dec) x 5, 4 sc = 48 st
35. 48 sc = 48 st (1 round)
36. (6 sc, dec) x 6 = 42 st
37. 42 sc = 42 st (1 round)
38. 2 sc, dec, (5 sc, dec) x 5, 3 sc = 36 st
39. 36 sc = 36 st (1 round)
40. (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30 st
41. 30 sc = 30 st (1 round)
42. 2 sc, dec, (3 sc, dec) x 5, 1 sc = 24 st
43. 7 sc, the 1st arm is crocheted in with 4 sc, 7 sc,
the 2nd arm crocheted in with 4 sc, 2 sc = 24 st
(On the frontside the arms have 7 sc and on the backside 9 sc in between.
Please check that the arms are placed nicely at each side of the body as well as
parallel to the legs. Maybe you need to adjust the stitches.)

44. 24 sc = 24 st (1 round)
45. 10 sc, the round is not worked till the end.
Stuff the body with fiberfill
Fold the two sides of the body opening together and crochet 10 sc across. Cut
the yarn and weave in the yarn tail nicely.
Patch Pocket (Hydrangea or Curry):
The patch pocket is crocheted in rows.
1. 14 ch, 1 tch
2. 14 sc, 1 tch (14 st)
3. dec, 10 sc, dec, 1 tch (12 st)
4. dec, 8 sc, dec, 1 tch (10 st)
5. – 10. 10 sc, 1 tch (8 st) (6 rows)
Now you crochet 50 sc around the patch pocket –
3 sc in each corner.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing the patch pocket to the jumper.
Attach the belly patch pocket with pins centered above the ribbing and to round 35.
Then sew the upper and lower edge to the belly.

Hoodie (Hydrangea or Curry):
The hoodie is crocheted in rounds till round 11 then you work in rows.
1. MR 8 sc = 8 st
2. hdc inc x 8 = 16 st
3. (1 hdc, inc) x 8 = 24 st
4. (2 hdc, inc) x 8 = 32 st
5. (3 hdc, inc) x 8 = 40 st
6. (4 hdc, inc) x 8 = 48 st
7. (5 hdc, inc) x 8 = 56 st
8. (6 hdc, inc) x 8 = 64 st
9. – 11. 64 hdc = 64 st (3 rounds)
Now work rows.
12. – 14. 59 hdc, 1 tch (59 st) (3 rows)
15. 55 hdc, 4 slst (59 st)
If the hoodie is too short at the front crochet one more row.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing the hoodie to the body. At the end the
same yarn tail is used to sew the head to the body.

Chord of the jumper 2x (Hydrangea or Curry):
Work a double chain with 16 st. Repeat this one more time. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Pull the tail through the last stitch. Make a knot at the end of the chord. Sew both chords centered to the neck. Cut the yarn and weave in the yarn tail nicely.

Now sew the head to the neck.
To visualize it better I pinned the head to the body with long pins/doll needles
and lifted the head a bit.

Mini sheep Willi (Light Gray, Almond or White):
Please note:
Until round 9 work blo.
1. MR 6 sc = 6 st
2. inc x 6 = 12 st
3. 12 sc = 12 st (1 round)
4. 1 sc, (1 sc in next st, 6 ch, work 5 slst back),
1 sc, (1 sc in next st, 6 ch, work 5 slst back), 8 sc = 12 st
5. – 7. 12 sc = 12 st (3 rounds)
8. 1 sc, (1 sc in next st, 6 ch, work 5 slst back),
1 sc, (1 sc in next st, 6 ch, work 5 slst back), 8 sc = 12 st
9 – 10. 12 sc = 12 st (2 rounds)
Now you work both loops again.
11. – 12. 12 sc = 12 st (2 rounds)
Stuff body with fiberfill
13. dec x 6 = 6 st
Close opening.
Cut the yarn and weave it in nicely.

Sheep’s wool of Willi (Almond or White):
Work from front to back – from head to butt.
Thread in a yarn tail at the first flo (at the back of the body) and crochet 3 ch
and then a slst in the next flo. Again work 3 ch and a slst in the next st. Then
repeat these steps until you crocheted 3ch in each flo. Work two 3ch in each
of the last 4 flo st.
And here too, the more stitches are worked the fluffier the sheep’s wool will
be (the sheep’s wool ends in round 9). Cut the yarn and weave in the yarn tail nicely
