• Any black thread for eyes

appropriate to your crochet
density, I use 2 mm hook (US B).
• Needle for sewing the pieces
• Toy stuffing

For the clown with red hair
I used these colors:
• Yarnart jeans 80 (grey)

cotton gold 21 (grey
melange)
• Alize cotton gold 40 (light
blue) as a substitute for
Yarnart jeans 81
(turquoise)

in this pattern. You can
choose the yarn to your
liking, but all the colors
should have the same yarn
weight.

you go.
Secure the thread, fasten
off, pull the opening
closed. Weave in the
thread end inside of the
head.
HAIR
Crochet in orange color.
Insert the crochet hook under one of the magic ring
stitches. Make chain 21.
From the second chain from the hook: work 20 sc, this will
be the first hair strand.
Crochet densely enough. Make sure the chain is not
twisted, otherwise the strand wouldn’t be curled.
Then work 2 sc along the magic ring stitches and make
another hair strand (ch21, from the second ch from the
hook: 20 sc), 2 sc along the head round and make one
more hair strand, 2 sc along the head round. This way
we got three hair strands in the first round.
We are going to make hair strands skipping one round apart
from other hairround. Skip the firstround ofthe head and start
to crochetthe second round with hair strands along the second
round ofthe head. In the nextrounds we will crochet 3 sc
between two hair strands along the head.
Start to crochet the second round. We‘ve worked 2 sc along the
head at the first round, work one more sc and make another hair
strand, then 3 sc along the head, make a hair strand, 3 sc along
the head, make a hair strand. Repeat till the end of the round.
Then go to the third round with hair (the head’s fourth round)
and continue repeating the rapport. I will not write how many
hair strands we should have in every round. It doesn’t matter
much. Be attentive, don’t skip the head stitches, make increases
into every increase, it means that we make two sc from one st.
Continue crocheting in rounds, until six rounds with hair
strands are worked (the first round with three hair strands is
taken into account).
Count 25 sts from the end of the last round and place a pin.
Turn the work. Now we are going to make hair at the head
back, work in reverse direction, also skipping one head round.
Repeat the same rapport (3 sc along the head, a hair strand)
till the pin. Turn the work again, skip one round and crochet till
the beginning of the previous round. Secure the thread, fasten
off, weave in end inside of the piece.
This way we crocheted our hair, making the face boundary.
The width of the face is 25 sts.
The hair is finished. We have 6 rounds and two turning rows.
Hair strands are curled by themselves, but you can curve
them with your fingers. Also you can arrange them evenly so
there won’t be spaces between them.
NOSE
Crochet with the thread of
cherry color.
6 sc in MR
1 round: 6 inc (12)
2-3 rounds (2 rounds): 12 sc
4 round: 6 dec
Secure the thread, fasten off,
leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stuff the piece.
FACE DETAILS
Sew the nose, leaving 6 sts down from the hairline.
Embroider the eyes with black coloured thread. Mouline
threads can be used, I used Yarnart jeans divided into two
thread strands.
Insert the needle into the head bottom and bring out from the
point 1. Skip 5 sts and reinsert the needle into the point 2,
bring out from the point 3 (1 stitch higher and 1 diagonally to
the right). Pick the stitch up and reinsert into the point 3
again, bring out from the point 4 (1 stitch higher and 1
diagonally to the right). Reinsert the needle into the point 4
and bring out from the point 5 (1 st to the right).
Pick the stitch up, insert the needle into the point 5 and
bring out from the point 6 (1 st to the right and lower
diagonally). Pick the stitch up, reinsert the needle into the
point 6 and bring out from the head bottom. Secure the
thread, fasten off and weave in ends inside of the piece.
The second eye is embroidered in the same way.
Count 2 rounds lower the eyes and embroider freckles
with the red color, making horizontal stitches with the
wide of 1 st.
To make the eyes sadly looking, move the 1st point 2 sts
higher. Other points are located lower than the first stitch
is and respectively to it.
LEGS (MAKE 2)
Crochet with the thread of cherry color.
Ch10.
1 round: From the second

26 round: 15 sc (leave the last 2
sts unworked in this round to
avoid the marker being shifted)
27 round: Fold the piece in half
and work 8 sts through two layers.
Secure the thread, fasten off,
weave in end inside of the piece.
In the 10th round work 17 sc into
front loops only with the thread
of red color, secure the thread,
fasten off, weave in ends inside of the piece.
The second leg is crocheted in
the same way, don’t fasten off
the grey thread after finishing
26th round.
Crochet the body starting from
the second leg.
Make ch 5 and join with the first
leg into back loop. The legs are
located with the heels facing
towards us, therefore the back
loop is the loop which is closer to us.
Work in rounds.
1 round: 8 sc into back loops of
the first leg, 8 sc into front loops
of the front loops of the first leg,
5 sc along one side of the chain, 8
sc into front loops of the second
leg, 8 sc into back loops of the
second leg, 5 sc along the second
side of the chain.
Place marker to indicate the
beginning of the round.
2 round: (6 sc, inc)6 (48)
Change to light blue color. Then
change the color every two rounds.

Secure the thread, fasten off,
leaving a long tail for sewing.
SLEEVE RUCHE (MAKE 2)

the round. Secure the thread,
fasten off, leaving a long tail.
ARMS (MAKE 2)
Start crocheting in skin color.
6 sc in MR
1 round: 6 inc (12)
2-5 rounds (4 rounds): 12 sc
Change to light blue color.
6 round: 12 sc
Stuff the piece as you go.
The arm top should be stuffed
slightly.
Then we are going to join the
ruche.
7 round: Put the ruche to the arm
and work 12 sc in the next round
through both the arm and the
ruche, inserting the hook into the
hole where we crocheted three dc.
(12)
8 round: Crochet 12 sc into back
loops only.
Change to grey color. Then make
the color changing every two
rounds.
9-23 rounds (15 rounds): 12 sc
Fold the piece in half and work 5 sc
through two layers. Secure the
thread, fasten off, leaving a long
tail for sewing.
In the 8th round crochet 12 sc

arm is crocheted in the same way.
Sew the ruche ends with the

Work 24 dc and make sl st into the first st of the round.
Continue crocheting in rounds, work 3 more rounds with 24
dc in each round.
Secure the thread, fasten off.
Start to crochet the second leg.
Attach the thread to the fly’s (leave a thread tail long enough.
We will use this tail to sew the hole between the legs).
Work 4 rounds with 24 dc. Secure the thread, fasten off.
Weave in all thread ends.
Sew the hole formed between the legs closed.
Then we are going to make suspenders. Skip 6 sts from the
beginning of the first round, attach the thread and make chain
26, work 25 sc starting from the second chain from the hook.
(Put the trousers on the clown and decide what length of
suspenders you need.) Attach the suspender to the trousers,
weave in ends.
The second suspender is crocheted in the same way, but you
will need to skip 6 sts from the beginning of the round to the
left side.
Sew the suspenders with buttons to the trousers.
The suspenders can be crossed at the back side.

Our cute clown is finished! Thank you for crocheting with me!
